Lady Yoe Spell Woe for Lexington

by Mike Organ

Cameron scored three runs in the bottom of the first to put Lexington on the defensive and kept the Lady Eagles at bay the rest of the night. The Lady Yoe ended up winning 9-0 as the Lady Eagles failed to get a hit until the sixth inning.

Hailey Jatzlau was the first Lady Eagle to reach first base in the second inning. Jatzlau reached on an error by the Yoe first baseman. Tayllor Lagrone got the first hit for Lexington to lead off the sixth. Veronica Richardson sacrificed her to second. Megan Scantlin got a single to get Lagrone to third. A pop up and fly to centerfield ended the threat. Lexington’s other hit came in the seventh with two out. Madison Bexley got a hit, but, again, nothing came of the effort.

The Lady Eagles made five physical errors and some mental errors that enabled Cameron. Three hits in the first by the Yoe with a mental error on a ‘hot box’ play netted three runs. A collapse in the sixth gave the Yoe six more runs for the 9-0 win.

The Lexington loss gives Rogers first place in District 27- AA. Lexington has a one-game advantage over Academy with a game with Rogers left in the regular season. Academy has a game left with a Jarrell team that is improving as the season winds down.
