Cameron Blanks Lexington Eagles

by Mike Organ

The District 27-AA champion Cameron Yoe defeated Lexington 8-0 last Friday night in Cameron. Cameron only managed four hits against Eagle pitching but got seven walks to aid their cause.

Cameron came out strong, scoring five runs in the bottom of the first inning. Four hits and three walks got things going for the Yoe. Another run in the fourth inning came after an Eagle error in centerfield and a sacrifice fly. Three walks and a single put the final two runs on the scoreboard.

Lexington fans felt that three calls cost Lexington the game, but the walks were more of a factor. The seven walks are like seven more hits. Lexington actually out hit the Yoe six to five but the walks made the difference.

The loss left Lexington still in second place in the district race. The Eagles need at least one win in the last three games.
