From the Superintendent of Schools

Dr. Frances M. McArthur, PhD Lexington ISD

The state mandated testing Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills began this week in our schools, with reading and math for our fifth and eighth grade students. Our teachers have worked hard preparing our students. Our parents have encouraged our students, and our students have put in the effort required to succeed. I am confident our students will be successful.

As I look at the excellence in our school system, I want to congratulate our students who participated in the One Act Play this year. The first competitive performance was on March 24 at the Cameron Performing Arts Center. Lexington advanced, along with Rogers. Our students received numerous awards that made Lexington shine including: Cody Church- Honorable Mention All Star Cast, Xzandra Chrisner- Honorable Mention All Star Cast, Nicole Stepanski- All Star Cast, Chelsey Iselt- All Star Cast, and Kyler Beisert- Best Actor. Last week, the district UIL performance was again held at the Cameron Performing Arts Center. Lexington advanced again. Congratulations to Xzandra Chrisner who was awarded Honorable Mention All Star Cast, Chelsey Iselt- Honorable Mention All Star Cast, Nicole Stepanski- All Star Cast, and Will Holcomb- All Star Cast. I am so very proud of all of our students who performed so well these past weeks in the UIL One Act Play and want to wish them good luck as they advance to the area level competition in San Antonio on April 9.
