Rogers Stalls Lexington Bats

by Mike Organ

Lexington’s Lady Eagles had a hard time hitting Rogers’ Paige Williams offerings Friday night. Lexington could only manage two scratch hits off the Rogers hurler in the 4-0 loss.

Megan Scantlin opened the game with a slap single and moved all the way to third base but her teammates were unable to get a hit to send her home.

Rogers scored one run in the second, third, fourth, and fifth innings while holding Lexington scoreless.

Lexington did have a chance to score in the third inning when Veronica Richardson walked to lead off. Jorden Kelley popped a bunt that landed just in front of a reaching glove for an infield hit. But, two strike outs and a fly out followed, stranding the runners.

Lexington did not play its best game defensively. Five errors helped produce Rogers runs in the third, fourth, and fifth innings.
