Lexington Sinks Lady Vikings

The slow starting Lady Eagles beat Lago Vista 10-0 Monday afternoon. The Lady Eagles scored six in the second, three in the fourth, and one in the fifth to end the game early due to the mercy rule.

Kristin Boettcher started the scoring for Lexington. A walk got her to first, an attempted sacrifice bunt by Marley Ross was thrown away by the Lago pitcher moving Boettcher to third. A passed ball by the LV catcher saw Boettcher score. A walk to Mackenzie Brown put runners on first and third. A fastball to Courtney Robertson was hammered over the fence for a three-run home run. Meghann Wrinkle followed with a single, stole second and scored on two consecutive wild pitches. Hailey Jatzlau walked and Taylor Lagrone singled in the hole at shortstop. A wild throw by the shortstop moved the runners to second and third. A wild pitch gave Jatzlau home for the sixth run of the inning.

In the bottom of the fourth, Brown walked to open the inning, Wrinkle singled to score Brown as the right fielder misplayed the ball. Wrinkle then scored on an wild pitch. Jatzlau was hit-by-a-pitch, who promptly moved around the bases via wild pitches for another score.

In the fifth, Megan Scantlin reached on an error by the LV shortstop. Brown walked, Robertson singled to load the bases, and Wrinkle singled to plate Scantlin and end the game.

Robertson pitched a one-hitter and struck out eight in the fiveinning game.
