Lady Eagles Jilt Jarrell 10-6
Lexington followed the same pattern they have for several ball games this season. They fell behind 4-0 and then battled back to take a 10-6 win over Jarrell Tuesday night. Hailey Jatzlau led the team with a triple, double and two singles. Jatzlau scored three times and batted in two runs in her best offensive game of the year.
Jarrell opened the game with the first four batters scoring on four hits and an Eagle error. The Lady Cougars batted around in the first while scoring the four runs.
Lexington answered with three runs in the top of the second. Meghann Wrinkle walked to lead off. Jatzlau plated Wrinkle with the triple. Taylor Lagrone singled Jatzlau home, as she continues to hit the ball well. Madison Bexley singled as Jarrell booted the ball. Lagrone scored and Bexley got thrown out at third.
Lexington took the lead in the top of the third inning. Wrinkle walked again to lead off. A passed ball allowed her to move to second. A Jatzlau single to left field eluded the fielder’s glove as Wrinkle sped home. Lagrone hit a grounder that the Jarrell shortstop erred on allowing Jatzlau to score.
Jarrell tied the game at five in the bottom of the fourth as Lexington failed to score. Both teams did not score in the fifth and Lexington could not muster a run in the sixth. Jarrell scored a run in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6- 5 lead going into the seventh inning.
Lexington blew the game open with five runs in the top of the seventh. Wrinkle led off with a single and stole second. Jatzlau doubled her home and went to third on a wild pitch. Lagrone delivered a single to get Jatzlau home. Lagrone went to second on the throw and stole third to get into scoring position. Bexley singled, Boettcher singled, and Megan Scantlin singled as Lexington completed the fivespot.
