Linwood Acres Club

Linwood Acres Club Spring Happening will be held on April 27 at St. John’s United Methodist fellowship hall. This is the clubs major fundraiser and tickets can be purchased from any club member. This year’s event will be a tasting salad luncheon with cupcakes for dessert. For more information, contact Billie Noack, the club reporter.

Rev-Up Strategy

The seven-county Regional Economic Revitalization and Utilization Planning Council (Rev-Up) will host a strategy session from 6 to 8 p.m., March 28 in the Patterson Center in Rockdale.

Linda Angell of the Belton Workforce Solutions office told the Rockdale City Council four possible uses have been identified for the former Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations. “Those are: a military training base, an inland port, a mock Texas disaster training city or an energy pilot project,” she said.

She said more details will be presented at the meeting on March 28.

Suicide Prevention Walk

Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

Participants may register online at www.AFSP.org or at Tiger Field at 9 a.m. before the event.

The walk features a balloon release, entertainment and speakers. Water and snacks will be provided.

A barbecue fund raiser and auction to benefit the Milam Association for Retarded Citizens Center building expansion is set for Saturday, April 2 at The Ranch on West Cameron Avenue in Rockdale.

“The MARC Center is undergoing a 1,500 square foot expansion to the current activity center on Pecos Street,” said Ann King,

MARC volunteer.

Barbecue plates with all the trimmings will be sold from 11:30 a.m. until they are sold out. Plates will be available for dining in or taking out.

The auction will start at 4:30 p.m. and will feature some special items, including a handmade quilt. For more information, contact King at 512-446-3773.
