Lady Eagles Flush Florence

by Mike Organ

Lexington blasted Florence 15-0 Tuesday night after a long delay due to the officials not showing. The rout started early and ended in the third inning with two out.

Megan Scantlin led off with a walk. Courtney Robertson followed with a double, Meghann Wrinkle added another double, Hailey Jatzlau singled, Kristen Boettcher singled, Marley Ross singled, and Veronica Richardson walked. Scantlin singled her second time up in the inning. Mackenzie Brown singled, Robertson singled home another run, and Wrinkle followed with a single that the centerfielder misplayed for another RBI.

Jatzlau singled home Wrinkle with the 11th run of the first inning.

In the third, Robertson led off with a single. Wrinkle hit a grounder through the second baseman’s legs, and Boettcher singled. Ross hit another grounder to second, who fielded the ball, but threw it wildly to first. Richardson singled home the 15th run to end the game.

Robertson did not allow in the mercy shortened game. She walked one and hit a batter to give Florence their only base runners.
