The Race is On as the Competition Increases

This year’s City and School Board elections will each have full ballots. The deadline to sign up was this past Monday. Six people have signed up to run for three seats opening on the Lexington City Council. Five people have signed up to run for three seats opening on the Lexington ISD Board of Trustees.

For City Council, all three incumbents have signed up to have their names included on this year’s ballot. Tim Brown, Greg Langehennig and Tony Tavary will seek re-election.

Also running for City Council are Stephanie Aderhold, Mary Atkins and Opal Lewis.

For LISD Board of Trustees, only one incumbent, Dr. Mark Strain, signed up for re-election. Also running for the school board will be David Boettcher, Riza Cooper, Doug Havard and Candace Thornton.

Early voting will begin on May 2, 2011 and continue until May 10. Early voting for the City positions will be held at City Hall, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early voting for the LISD positions will be held weekdays from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m.

This year’s elections will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2010.
