2010Census Shows Lexington Has Grown

The City of Lexington’s population has grown by 47 people since the last census. The 2010 Census showed the population at 1,225, compared to 2000 when the population was 1,178.

The population of Lee County was up 3.7% to 16,231 from 15,657, which is 574 more people than in 2000. Giddings showed an increase of 264, growing to 5,369 people from 5,105.

Rockdale surpassed Cameron as the largest city in Milam County. Their population grew 2.9% to 5,595 from 5,439. Cameron’s population decreased 1.5%, showing 5,552 in the 2010 Census from 5,634 in the 2000 Census.

Other area towns showing an increase in their population are Caldwell with 3,702 up from 3,449; Elgin with 9,917 up from 5,700, a huge gain; LaGrange with 4,741 up from 4,478; and Bastrop with more big gains, showing 8,439 up from 5,340.
