Pre-Opening Tour of Newly Remodeled Mother/Baby Center

Soon, nurses, technicians, physicians and expectant mothers will begin settling into new labor and delivery rooms, as the final phase of the St. Joseph Women’s Center renovation opens to patients.

A walk-through tour of the newly expanded women’s center and it’s capabilities was held last Monday, February 28.

The opening marks the end of a $13 million, five-phase construction project. It took more than two years to transform the Brazos Valley’s busiest labor and delivery area. In 2010, 2,154 babies were born at St. Joseph.

The newly expanded women’s center now includes 11 labor and delivery rooms, two exam rooms, three rooms designed to monitor women threatened with pre-term labor, a surgical suite with two operating rooms and a recovery area. The well-baby nursery was expanded as was the family viewing area. A separate, special-care nursery and state-of-the-art fetal monitor surveillance system were also part of the upgrades.
