by Mike Organ

The Lexington Lady Eagles opened the 2011 season with a 6-2 win over the Rosebud-Lott Lady Cougars.

Lexington started off with bats ringing, but they were unable to score in the first inning. In the second, Haley Jatzlau led off and reached on a single. Two outs later, Kristen Boettcher reached on a bad throw. Jorden Kelley walked and Megan Scantlin singled to score two. Mackenzie Brown followed with another single and two more runs crossed home plate.

Lexington held on the 4-0 lead until the fifth inning when they added another run on Brown’s single followed by winning pitcher Courtney Robertson’s double. Robertson was thrown out being a little greedy in trying to get to a triple.

Lexington upped the lead to 6-0 in the sixth inning as Jorden Kelley was hit- by a pitch. Megan Scantlin singled moving Kelley to third. Robertson popped a single to plate Kelley.

Robertson was the winning pitcher for the Lady Eagles. Robertson struck out nine and walked only one in 93 pitches.
