PHOTO BY DEWANNA BOWNDS. A number of Eagles from years past played in a very special football game last Saturday afternoon in Lexington. Twentyseven players, who graduated from Lexington High School anywhere from 1983 to 2010, put on the old green and gold uniforms, pads and all, and marched out on the gridiron to “Get BACK in the Game!”© and represent their alma mater.

The full-contact game observed high school rules with slight modifications. The event was organized by Texas Alumni Football, a division of Alumni Football USA.

In these games, it is common to find father/son duos, past coaches and brothers from different graduating years and that was the case in Lexington last Saturday.

Lexington was paired against Dawson, Texas, a town of about 1,000 people located directly north of Lexington in Navarro County, which is south of Dallas. The Eagles smashed Dawson 26 to zip at Eagle Stadium!

A couple hundred people showed up for Lexington and cheered their team on to victory. Playing for Lexington were Zachary Govan, Class of 2008; Will Sandifer, ’06; Darren Carter ’91; Kendrick Gilbert, ’98; Henry Jackson, ’10; Casey Iselt, ’10; Clint Hutson, ’10; Jamal Jackson, ’07; JC Washington, ’92; Jim Stamport, ’83; Clint Stamport, ’06; Lewis Edmondson, ’97; Leonard Lewis, ’87; Curtis McFarlin, ’00; Shelton Govan, ’87; Steve Washington, ’88; Aaron Clopton, ’00; David Roberson, ’91; Tray Bell, ’99; Darvin Hutson, ’84; Brad Dominy, ’95; James Dominy, ’97; Zach Stamper, ’10; Bradley Reynolds, ’ 08; Carl Kolacek, ’ 97; Phil Brockenbush, ’ 99; Bradley Patschke, ’92.
