Blinn College Joins Dual Credit Website

New site offers one- stop information for high school students, parents and school districts

Joining an effort launched by The Texas Association of Community Colleges and the Virtual College of Texas, Blinn College recently partnered with a new website that promises to offer a simple online location for high school students and educators seeking information about dual credit opportunities at community colleges in Texas.

Blinn’s dual credit endeavors are spearheaded by Ms. Cathy Stuckert, director of the Academic Dual Credit Program.

“We’re always interested in opening new, easy-to-use portals for students, potential students and our partner high schools around the state,” Stuckert said. “The new website is truly a onestop gathering point of information that streamlines information and puts visitors to the site in touch quickly with the information they need.”

The site, Dual Credit Texas is the latest collaborative endeavor of the member colleges of TACC. It contains lists of all Academic and Career/ Technical course offerings at community colleges across the state. Also, the Website provides links to local community colleges dual credit web pages that can be accessed by the name of public school districts a student attends.

Courses offered for dual credit stem from agreements between high schools and community colleges whereby a high school junior or senior enrolls in a college course and simultaneously earns college credit and high school credit for the course.

Partnerships between Texas secondary schools and Texas community colleges have enabled high school students to earn college credits before graduating from high school, making their transition to the collegiate campus smoother and their likelihood of graduating from college greater. - www.dualcredittexas.org<http:// www.dualcredittexas.org>
