Snow’s BBQ Invited to Cook for Super Bowl Media
Snow’s BBQ of Lexington, owned and operated by Kerry Bexley, racked up another honor recently when they were asked to be one of seven barbecue companies to cook for the North Texas Super Bowl Host Committee’s Media Party held on Feb. 1, 2011 at the House of Blues in Dallas before this year’s Super Bowl.
The event, which honored three media legends: Dan Jenkins, Frank Luska and Pat Summerall, was hosted by former Dallas Cowboys Michael Johnson and Daryl “Moose” Johnston. The Host Committee Chairman was another Dallas Cowboy great – Roger Staubach.
More than 4,000 people, that included media groups from around the world there to cover the Super Bowl, were in attendance and were able to sample the barbecue that featured Snow’s and seven other hallof fame caliber Texas barbecue operations.
Bexley said, “The pitmaster talent at the Dallas event rivaled that of last September’s gathering at the Texas Monthly’s barbecue celebration in Austin.”
He went on to say he shared a portable pit with Wayne Mueller of Louie Mueller’s, located in Taylor. Also cooking for the Media Party was Texas football legend Earl Campbell, cooking his Earl’s Sausage.
Snow’s earned the title of Texas Monthly’s “Best BBQ in Texas” in 2008, a distinction Texas Monthly issues every five years.
