Lee County Commissioners Meet
The Lee County Commissioners met on Monday, February 14, in their Regular Session. During the meeting, the Court received and approved numerous reports from county officials, including one from Centex Regional Juvenile Services.
The Court set the rental fee for half of the County’s property at 849 East Industry in Giddings. The other half of the building is currently leased to St. Marks Hospital and is used for their Clinic.
The Court also approved adding $17,270 to the contract with Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associated, Inc. to cover having this firm expand monitoring the effects of the work being done to stabilize and rework the foundation of the Courthouse.
While plans are still to begin the interior repair work about a year after the current rework is completed, the current state funding for the Texas Historical Society projects is so uncertain, that funds for this work may not be available. In is felt by the Court that continued monitoring is necessary in case there is a significant time delay between this current work and the follow-up work.
The Commissioners voted to have LiveAir Networks maintain the outside firewall to be located at the Courthouse and to keep this firewall functioning and current. This firewall is especially important because of documented cases of attempts to hack into other counties’ data and legal documents.
