Lady Eagles Feel Woe at Yoe

by Mike Organ

Lexington dropped out of the playoff race with a 43-25 loss to the Lady Yoe of Cameron Saturday afternoon. The Lady Eagles started off well, but you knew things were not going to go their way when Mackenzie Brown’s three-pointer was waved off due to a pushing foul early in the first quarter.

From that point on things fell apart for the Lady Eagles. Angel Parks, who was showing some offensive spark, fouled out with over three minutes left in the third quarter. A couple of other players showed some lack of hustle, which caused Coach Ryan Starnes to bench them and play younger players.

The younger players hustled, but were not up to the Lady Yoe. Madison Bexley sank two threepoint shots and a deuce. Veronica Richardson took a partially blocked pass and made a shot for two.

The loss makes Lexington 19- 12 for the season and 6-7 in district play. The Eagles host Rogers in their final game Tuesday. A victory over Rogers would give Lexington a 20-win season and put Rogers out of the playoffs, supposing a Cameron win over last place Lago Vista.
