Randy Dean Meyer Sr.
Randy Dean Meyer was born on April 16, 1955 in Brenham, Texas to Willie A. & Evelyn (Jezek) Meyer. He was baptized on June 11, 1955 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehberg, Texas by Rev. A.R. Wolber and confirmed on March 30, 1969 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehberg by Rev. John Kueker. He attended school in Burton and graduated from Burton High School in 1974. Randy was united in marriage to Linda Zoch on January 16, 1977 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas by Rev. Arthur Graf. Their marriage was blessed with four children, Rose, Jennifer, Randy Jr. and Stacy.
Randy was employed as a truck driver with Key Energy Services in Giddings. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg and enjoyed spending time at the farm and being entertained by his grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father, Willie A. Meyer; his daughter, Jennifer Meyer; his grandson, Frederick Fisher Jr., his brother, Wilburn Meyer; his brother-in-law, Royce Noack, his nephew, Alan Wiederhold and his great nephew, Robert Charles Wiederhold.
Randy is survived by his wife, Linda Meyer of Giddings; his three children, Rose & Philip Tharp of Giddings, Randy Meyer Jr. & Marilyn Bage of Giddings and Stacy Meyer of Giddings; his two grandchildren, Courtland Tharp and Libbi Tharp both of Giddings; his mother, Evelyn Meyer of Burton; his sister, Dorothy & J.C. Wiederhold of Dime Box; his five brothers, Billy Joe & Eleanora Meyer of Houston, Edward & Mary Meyer of Houston, Howard & Janice Meyer of Thrall, Ray & Tinnie Meyer of Burton and Danny Meyer of Burton; parents-in-law, Paul & Esther Zoch of Giddings; his sister-in-law, Carolyn Noack of Giddings; his two brothers-inlaw, Ralph & Nancy Zoch of Giddings and Larry & Patricia Zoch of Fayetteville, NC as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Randy Meyer, 55 of Giddings, were held at 2: 00 p. m. on Saturday, February 5, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rehburg, Texas with Rev. Steve Cox officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was on Friday from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Meyer family was present for visitation Friday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers were Ray Gene Meyer Jr., G.W. Meyer, Chris Meyer, Robert Meyer, Rodney Meyer and Michael Wiederhold.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the charity of one’s choice.
