Lago Vista Sinks Eagles 49-42

by Mike Organ

Lexington dropped a tough game to Lago Vista Friday as the Eagles played out of gas once again. Lexington got beat 23-12 in the fourth period after leading by four at the end of the third period. Lexington once again had the lead but the short bench hurt them again.

Freshman Eriq Mitchell, with 15- points, was the leading scorer for the Eagles for the third game in a row. With the low number of players Mitchell and other young players are getting a chance to experience a lot of varsity basketball which will aid their development.

Sophomore Jason Washington runs the offense from the point guard position, dishing the ball off to players who have an open shot. Washington also scores when the opportunity presents itself. Sophomore Zach Lay has proven to be a solid player with a good three-point shot. Kevin Johnson is learning to be a post man. With his size he could become a formidable force inside as he gains experience and confidence.

Seniors Kaelan Blok, Donnie Havard, and Doug Rhodes provide the leadership the younger players need.
