Dahlia Ruby Koslan
Dahlia Ruby “Dolly” Fischer Koslan was born on November 15, 1923 to Fred F. & Adelheid ( Berger) Fischer. She was baptized at home on January 13, 1924 by Rev. W. Mueller and confirmed on April 10, 1938 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. G.W. Fischer. Dolly was united in marriage to Willie E. Koslan on August 4, 1946 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings by Rev. Max Studtmann. She was a homemaker who enjoyed gardening, sewing for her family and cooking. She also delighted in caring for her grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Joe Fischer, Anton Fischer and his wife, Louise; her sisters, Effie Matejek and her husband, Emil and Gertrude Faske and her husband, Herbert; best friends, Margaret (Harry) Mersiovsky and Marie (Herbert) Jenke.
She is survived by her four children and their families, William & Carolyn Koslan of Giddings and their family, Brian & Melissa Koslan of Dallas and Eric Koslan of Houston; Kathy & Grady Stueber of Giddings and their family, Chris & Kim Stueber and their children, Preston, Hudson and Dahlia Rose who is arriving in May and Stephanie & Jon Walther and their children, Toye and Wyatt of Lincoln; Pauline & Dennis Wachsmann of Manheim and their family, Michael & Nicki Wachsmann and their daughter, Lia of Austin and Kevin Wachsmann of Manheim and Paulette & David Little and their son, Nick Little of Giddings; her brother, Noah and his wife, Alice Fischer of Giddings; sistersin law, Elsie Fischer of Giddings, Lorene Boes of Austin, Ruby Koslan of Giddings and Bernell Koslan of Loebau as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Dahlia “Dolly” Koslan, 87 of Giddings, were held at 2: 00 p. m. on Tuesday, February 1, 2011 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Giddings with Rev. Robert Tiner officiating. Burial followed in the Giddings City Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday from 9:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Koslan family was present for visitation Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
The grandchildren served as pallbearers.
Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Lutheran School Scholarship Fund, Brazos Valley Hospice or the charity of one’s choice.
