Lady Eagles Corral Florence 44-27

by Mike Organ

Lexington kept its playoff hopes alive with a 44- 27 win over Florence Friday night. The win gives Lexington a district record of 4-5 with five games to play. The Lady Eagles are just two games out of the three-way tie for second. Unlike the last few games, Lexington led 20-19 at the half but jetted ahead with a 16-6 margin in the third period. The Lady Eagles then settled for eight in the fourth period.

The Lady Eagle defense really came to life in the second half as they allowed Florence only eight points the entire half. The Eagles jumped in the passing lanes and harassed the ball handlers into many errors.

The score could have been much worse had the Lady Eagles been only average at the free throw line. They made only 10 of 33 charity tosses.

Angel Parks had another stellar night with 17 points. Point guard Deja Griffin had nine points in addition to running the offense. Mackenzie Brown had eight points through hustle.
