Sheriff’s Report

January 17, 2011

A caller reported that her daughter was staying with her grandparents and has blood sugar problems and went to the hospital and they wanted her to stay. The daughter called her mom in Killeen and told her that her grandmother had choked her. Deputy Ray was dispatched to check welfare and advised that the mother was on her way to pick her daughter up.

A motorist reported that he almost hit a dead cow that was on the outside eastbound lane on Hwy 21, just west of CR 103. Deputy Allen and Deputy Lee responded and removed the cow from the roadway.

Deputy Carvin was dispatched to a residence on CR 302 after receiving a complaint regarding suspicious circumstances. Deputies will be close patrolling the area.

Deputy Lapham spoke to a complainant on PR 4242 in Dime Box. She wanted to report that items were missing from her house. No report was taken at this time.

A motorist reported an accident on Hwy 77 North at FM 696 East. The caller advised that he was sure it was a fatality accident. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Carvin assisted DPS at the scene.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a subject on CR 306 reporting that his vehicle was on fire. Deputy Ray and Deputy Allen responded along with Blue Fire Dept.

January 18, 2011

A motorist reported that an 18- wheeler was broken down on Hwy 77 approx 5 miles south of Giddings. The outside lane of traffic was blocked. Deputy Lapham located the 18-wheeler and reported a Fayette County trooper was already on scene. A wrecker was called to the scene.

Deputy Lapham spoke to a complainant that wanted to file a missing persons report. The subject had left on her own free will and told everyone she was leaving and took her personal belongings. Investigation continues on this case.

A resident reported two suspicious vehicles at the fairgrounds on Hwy 290 West. Deputy Carvin was dispatched and located both vehicles. He spoke to the drivers and advised that they are friends and just pulled over to talk.

Deputy Allen was dispatched to check on a vehicle that was reported to be parked partially in the road on FM 696. The vehicle was located and had a flat tire and was well off the roadway.

A caller reported that she believes someone has been in her house on CR 127. Deputy Ray responded and took a burglary report. The case is currently under investigation.

January 19, 2011

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a complainant advising that her sister’s boyfriend keeps calling and threatening her boyfriend saying that he is going to kill him. Deputy Liles responded and a report was taken.

Deputy Durrenberger spoke to a complainant that lives on CR C in Lexington regarding several items that was stolen from his front porch. A report was taken and the investigation on this case continues.

A complainant spoke to Deputy Ray about some threatening phone calls she has been receiving. The information was taken and a report was written.

January 20, 2011

A motorist reported cows out on Hwy 21 near Elm Creek. Deputy Allen and Deputy Ray responded and ran the cows down a driveway on Hwy 21 near CR 103.

Deputy York spoke to a complainant who advised that someone had destroyed his mailbox on CR 223. A close patrol of the area will be in effect.

A complainant wanted to file charges on his soon to be ex-son in law for stealing his chainsaw. Deputy York made contact with the son in law and he agreed to return it.

Deputy Durrenberger responded to an open door at a local business. Dispatched contacted the corporate office and was given a contact phone number.

Deputy Ray was dispatched to FM 141 after a motorist reported that a man was walking down the road approx 2 miles past CR 116. The area was searched but no one was located.

January 21, 2011

A subject walked into the Sheriff ’s Office lobby and reported that a horse was out on FM 448 @ CR 216. Deputy Ray

and Deputy Allen ran the horse off the roadway.

Deputy Ray and Deputy Allen assisted with traffic control at the scene of an accident on Hwy 21 @ CR 103 in Paige.

A caller reported that there was a pony standing in the roadway on FM 448 near 448 Supply. The call was inside the city limits and animal control was dispatched to the scene.

Deputy York assisted with traffic control at an accident scene on Hwy 77 approx 2 miles south of Lexington. An 18-wheeler had run off the road and struck a fence.

A complainant on CR 414 noticed that someone had covered her truck in a white substance. Deputy Allen responded and a report was taken and the Dime Box school will be notified of the situation. Charges may be filed.

January 22, 2011

Deputy Lapham was dispatched to a residence on Hwy 21 after a caller reported that someone had broken into her residence. A burglary report was taken.

A caller reported that some kids that attempted to toilet paper her truck last night were riding 4 wheelers on her property and harassing her. The information was taken and a close patrol of the residence continues.

Deputy Crockett met with a complainant on PR 1412. He advised that his neighbor had covered his right of way with stuff and he can’t gain access to his property. The right of way was cleared for the most part. The neighbor will finish clearing it tomorrow.

A complainant called and reported that someone was banging on her front door and trying to open it. Deputy Crockett was dispatched to the residence on FM 696 and searched the residence and the area surrounding it. Nothing was found. He will patrol the area for a while.

January 23, 2011

A motorist reported cows out on CR 216 just off FM 448. Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched but reported that the cow had left the scene.

Several motorists reported that the same cows were out again on Hwy 21 West near CR 103. Deputy Durrenberger located the cows and the owner. The owner is going to fix his fence.

A caller reported an elderly male pushing a shopping cart was walking down CR 118. Deputy Crockett was dispatched and searched the area.

The Sheriff ’s Office has received reports of a scam going on with local citizens. It involves receiving a call that you are the winner of a large sum of money. All you have to do is send in $12,000 for processing fees. If you receive a similar call do not respond and become a victim.
