Mary Ella Schimank
Mary Ella (Boriack) Schimank was born on September 9, 1926 in Lincoln, Texas to Oscar and Alma (Proske) Boriack. She was baptized on September 12, 1926 and confirmed on March 17, 1940 both at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln. Her confirmation verse was Revelations 2:10 “Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.” Mary was united in marriage to Victor Schimank on February 4, 1951 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln. She was a homemaker and a loving and devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Alma Boriack; her brother, Edmund Boriack; two sisters, Amanda Boriack, and Edna and her husband, Victor Umlang; four brothers- in- law, Winfred Schimank, Herbert Winkler, Edmond Schimank and Edgar and his wife, Lydia Schimank: two granddaughters, Chelsea Schimank and Hannah Galipp and a nephew, Edward Umlang.
She is survived by her husband, Victor Schimank of Giddings; her daughter, Bea and Farrell Behrens of Giddings; her sons, James and Judy Schimank, Eugene and Peggy Schimank, Clyde “ Shorty” and Sandra Schimank, Stanley and Cindy Schimank and Stephen and Sherri Schimank all of Giddings; nineteen grandchildren, Paula Schimank, Annie and Tim Beasley, John and Emily Schimank, Chandra and Timmy Williams, Sondy and Jason Mersiovsky, Kristen Schimank, Christopher Schimank, Corie Schimank, Shaina and Ben Radcliff, Sarah and Jacob Janda, Alicia Gersch, Kadra Schimank, Garrett Schimank, Colton Schimank, Victoria Schimank, Logan Schimank, Ben Schimank, Micaela Schimank, Jarrod and Laura Behrens, all of Giddings and Brandy and Billy Todd of Brenham, Texas, Brenna Behrens of Leander, Texas and Bethany Behrens of Austin, Texas; eleven great grandchildren, Ayden Beasley, Sierra Beasley, Trent Williams, Trevor Williams, Addyson Mersiovsky, Kynslee Schimank, Ryne Todd, Rylan Todd, Mia Sheffield, Dahni Sheffield and Briley Behrens; her brother, Alfred and Bernice Boriack; her sisters, Alleen Winkler and Elsie Schimank; her sister-in-law, Clara Schimank and her brothers-in-law, Lorenz and Ruth Schimank, Gilbert and Dorothy Schimank and Clarence and Jane Schimank.
Funeral services for Mary Schimank, 84 of Giddings, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln with Rev. Dale Bohm officiating. Burial followed in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation was held Monday from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 7:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Schimank family was present for visitation Monday evening from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
Serving as pallbearers were Logan Schimank, John Schimank, Christopher Schimank, Garrett Schimank, Jacob Janda and Trent Williams.
