Young Eagles Make Great Strides

The boys Lexington JV Basketball team hosted the Cameron Yeomen in the “Old” gym on Tuesday January, 11. As the season marches on, the improvement of the young Eagles is notable. During the game the fans were treated to fast breaks, full court drives, picture perfect lay ups and a nice 3 point shot.

The first period was fast paced and started for the Eagles with one foul penalty shot made by #30 Marcus Cassassa. Next for Lexington was #12 Corey Strain witha2pointbucketandanother penalty shot, and the scoring ended with a nice long pass down the court to an awaiting # 22 Derek Dane and an easy 2. The first period ended with Lexington down 9-6.

The start of the second had the Yeoman pulling away. With fast action and some nice shooting, Cameron added 14 points while Lexington’s #32 Nate Holcomb put up 2 and # 40 Kevin Johnson also got 2. The end of the second had Cameron on top 23-11.

The third period sealed the game for Cameron as they added 18 more to Lexington’s 10 increasing the lead to 41-20. Strain added 3, # 11 Chris Johnson got in on the action with 2andHolcombhita2andanice 3 for 5.

The fourth period brought #24 Cameron Janda to the scoring table with 3 and #34 London Jacob put in 2 as well. The game ended with a spread of 47-25 Cameron.

While the score says Lexington lost, the improvement was measurable and the Young Eagles are making great strides.
