Jarrell Whistles Past Lexington

by Mike Organ

Jarrell proved why they are one of the top teams in the state as they showed their talent in beating Lexington 58-42. The Cougars were aided by some timely calls by the officials in the game. Lexington does play an aggressive defense which brings forth some extra foul calls.

Jarrell jumped out to a 33-19 lead at halftime. Lexington, after finding out the type of officiating and how to deal with the Jarrell defense, played the Cougars evenly the second half as each team tallied 25-points.

Lexington’s shooting improved in the second half as Eriq Mitchell sank two threes, Kaelan Blok and Jason Washington dropped in a trey each. If the Eagles could have played the entire game like the second half, the game would have been exciting.

In Lexington’s defense, they are just two weeks into basketball and Jarrell has been playing for eight weeks or more.
