Friday evening January 7th, the High School Eagle Basketball teams traveled to Jarrell to take on the Cougars. The JV boys played in the “second” gym of the Jarrell athletic complex in the back. The team of “Seven” has swelled to Nine as two more JV players have joined the ranks, #11 Christian Hess and #40 Kevin Johnson.

Jarrell set the pace of the game from beginning to end. Most of their players stood a head taller and seemed to jump higher and rebounded in an aggressive manner. #12 Corey Strain started the scoring for Lexington by hittinga3pointerearlyon. #34 London Jacob and #24 Cameron Janda each added 2 in the first to make Lexington’s score 7, but trailing Jarrell’s 12. The second period had #30 Marcus Cassassa as the sole point maker for Lexington adding 4 more points, while Jarrell tacked on 8. The half ended 20-11 Jarrell. The third period had Lexington stymied and unable to score while the Cougars tacked on 7 to finish the third 27-11. The fourth and final period had both teams score 8 points to finish the game at 35- 19 Jarrell. In the fourth, #32 Nate Holcomb added 2, #40 Kevin Johnson got his first 2 points of the year, Strain put in one free throw and Jacob hit a nice 3 pointer. The JV team is full of heart and effort and look good for their third game of the year.
