From the Superintendent of Schools
Our Lexington students continue to excel among students in the state. Right before the Christmas break we got some great news from Phil Wilson, senior Vice President of Luminant. Lexington Elementary School has been selected as a 2010 Luminant Scholar grand prize winner. Out of all the submitted essays on “How can I help protect the environment?”, from 21 participating school districts across Texas, Heather Exner’s essay was selected as one of the best. Heather was awarded a $1,000.00 scholarship check last fall, and this week, Lexington Elementary School will be the lucky recipient of $5,000.00 because of Heather’s talent and hard work.
Fridays are very special days for me in Lexington. I learned to love football as I never have this fall. I found myself enjoying the Lexington games far more than I ever enjoyed the Aggie games. This new year, I am finding that running with our elementary students as they rack up their miles for their marathon kids is great fun. Parents are encouraged to join their children on Fridays as they run the elementary track. Next week, our elementary students will be skating during PE. What a wonderful opportunity for our children to exercise as they develop skating skills and exercise.
