Lexington Independent School District is accepting nominations for students to participate in the LISD Gifted and Talented program. LISD has a designated nomination period each spring and nominations may be made by teachers, counselors, parents, and other interested persons. Students that are nominated will go through a screening process for identification. The state definition of a gifted and talented student is as follows: “Gifted and talented student” means a child or youth who performs at or shows the potential for performing at a remarkably high level of accomplishment when compared to others of the same age, experience, or environment and who exhibits high performance capability in an intellectual creative, or artistic area, possesses an unusual capacity for leadership, or excels in a specific academic field. Education Code 29.121 The nominations period this year is January 10th through January 21st . Nomination forms may be picked up from and returned to each campus office.
