From the Superintendent of Schools
Lexington ISD faculty and staff returned to work on Monday to prepare for another great semester for our students. Every staff member from bus drivers to teachers proudly stood to give our coaching staff a standing ovation for a wonderful-action packed football season. The character displayed by our coaches and players was recognized and complimented on by our opponents all over the state.
Our trustees are very concerned about the state revenue shortfall and the possible cuts that may come to education. Right before the break our trustees adopted a resolution to participate in the “Make Education a Priority” movement along with school boards all over the state. “Make Education a Priority” is a grass roots movement by Texas School Boards to motivate legislators to work hand in hand with educators to make education a priority in terms of the state budget shortfall. By creating community awareness, the hope is that all Texans will do what the Lexington community does best: Support our children! I appreciate our Board of Trustees so much for taking a proactive stance of communicating our district’s needs as we move into a tight budget biennium.
As we begin this new year, I want to wish all of the Lexington community a blessed and prosperous New Year.
