Ruby Ernie Markert

November 29, 1931 - December 29, 2010

Mrs. Markert passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at the Speciality Select Hospital in Houston.

Ruby Ernie Jatzlau Markert was born on November 29, 1931 in Lee County, Texas to Alvin & Louise (Lehmann) Jatzlau. She was united in marriage to Gilbert Ernest Markert on October 30, 1948 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas. He preceded her in death on November 7, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; an infant son; five brothers, Marvin, Herbert, Walter, Adolph and Irvin Jatzlau and two sisters, Elsie Lay and Bernice Walther.

Ruby is survived by her daughter, Sheila & Jeffrey Koopman of Houston; her son, Harvey Markert of Houston; four grandchildren, Sue & Chris Samoff of Katy, Jessica & Ross Miller of Brenham, Chelsea Koopman of Houston and Cody Koopman of Houston; three great grandchildren, Ashley, Cameron & Kerissa Samoff of Katy; one great, great grandchild, Kloie Samoff of Katy; one brother, Ludwig Jatzlau of Malaysia; two sisters, Ernie Rodgers of Houston and Hilda Arceneaux of Lexington; two brothers-in-law, Roland & Ruth Markert of Houston and Freddie & Lillian Markert of Dime Box; five sistersin law, Edna Green of California, Elyne Rackel of Lincoln, Betty Theiss of Houston, Frances Wernecke of New Ulm and Verna Mae Jatzlau of Houston as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Ruby Markert, 79 of Houston, Texas, were held at 2: 00 p. m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 at the Giddings City Cemetery in Giddings with Rev. Richard Schuller officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
