Bernice L. Markert
Bernice Markert, a child of God, a daughter, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great grandmother, a sister, a sister-inlaw, an aunt and a friend was called home by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, December 24, 2010.
Bernice was born on November 17, 1925 in Lee County, Texas, the daughter of Walter and Ella (Symmank) Boettcher. She was baptized on December 6, 1925 at St. John Lutheran Church in Lincoln, Texas and confirmed on April 2, 1939 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor, Texas. Bernice married Carl A. Markert on September 5, 1948 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, Texas.
Bernice was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl; two brothers, Franklin Boettcher and Ernest Boettcher; one sister, Juanita Boettcher; eight brothersin law, Ervin Markert, Willie Markert, Gilbert Markert, James Green, Charlie Strokos, Elmo Rackel, Vernon Wernecke and Wilbert Patschke and three sisters-in-law, Irene Strokos, Ruth Pampell and Ella Markert.
She is survived by her daughters, Sharon Faske (Delbert) of Lexington, Texas and Geraldine Brashear (Robert) of Cameron, Texas ; grandsons, Brent Faske, John Faske (Christy) and Zachary Brashear; granddaughter, Brook Brashear; great grandchildren, Carter Faske and Taylor Faske; three sisters, Lorine Jatzlau ( Herman), Katheleen Patschke and Patricia Hall (Kenneth); two brothers, Dennis Boettcher (Elaine) and Tommy Boettcher (Kathleen); six sisters- in- law, Lillie Mae Boettcher, Genell Boettcher and Elyne Rackel, Francis Wernecke, Ruby Markert and Betty Theis; two brothers- in- law, Roland Markert ( Ruth) and Freddie Markert ( Lillian) as well as numerous nieces, nephews, family members and friends.
Funeral services werehald at 10: 00 a. m. on Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at St. James Lutheran Church in Lexington, Texas with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating. Graveside services were held on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. at Cook Walden Capitol Parks in Pflugerville, Texas. Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. with the family being present from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Serving as pallbearers were Willie Birnbaum, Delbert Boettcher, Jason Hall, Jeff Markert, Jimmy Stork and Wayne Woelfel. Honorary pallbearers were Brent Faske, John Faske, Zachary Brashear, Brook Brashear, Carter Faske and Taylor Faske.
Memorials may be made to the St. James Lutheran Church Future Development Fund or the charity of one’s choice.
