Sale and Use of Fireworks Restricted
Lee County Judge Paul Fischer, along with the Lee County Commissioners, signed a resolution earlier this month prohibiting the sale or use of restricted fireworks in the unincorporated areas of Lee County due to an enhanced danger of wild fires. The commissioners issued a burn ban for the county during their regular December meeting due to a greatly enhanced danger of fire due to the extremely dry conditions.
The resolution specifically prohibits fireworks classified as skyrockets with sticks and missiles with fins. It does not prohibit common fireworks that are small in size and classified as Class C explosives or large fireworks devices designed primarily to produce visible or audible effects by combustion, deflagration or detonation and classified as Class B explosives.
Any person who commits an offense against this resolution knowingly or intentionally will be considered in violation of the order and may be charged with a Class C Misdemeanor.
