A Historical Jewel At Mission Concepción
This month marks the 255th anniversary of the dedication of Mission Concepción, near San Antonio, considered by many historians to be the oldest unrestored church in the United States. In an effort to push back on French encroachments from Louisiana, Concepción was originally founded, along with five other missions, by Franciscan friars in East Texas during the late 1600s.
