Mary Helen Schneider
Maria Helen “Mary” Dube Schneider was born on April 15, 1927 in Manheim, Texas to Albert & Ottilie (Urban) Dube. She was baptized on May 1, 1927 at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Manheim and confirmed on April 6, 1941 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. Mary was united in marriage to Oswald A. Schneider on January 9, 1946 also at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor. She was a loving and devoted homemaker, mother and grandmother who enjoyed gardening, cooking and taking care of her flowers. Mary had been an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor where she had been a member of the Ladies Aid and also worked with the Lutheran Braille Workers. Her greatest joy and love was her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Helen Schneider; her husband of 49 years, Oswald Schneider; two brothers, Werner Dube and his wife, Lydia and Carl Dube; two sisters, Ella Schroeder and her husband, Ewald and Evelyn Schroeder and her husband, Arnold; brotherin law, Henry Richter and a grandson in-law, Michael Matthijetz.
Mary is survived by her daughter, Mildred Wachsmann and her husband, Leroy of Manheim; three grandchildren, Peggy Matthijetz of Lincoln, Tammy Wachsmann & Kevin Striegler of Austin and Nathan Wachsmann of Manheim; two great grandchildren, Colton Matthijetz and Lauren Matthijetz both of Lincoln; brother, Herman Dube and his wife, Gladys of Giddings; two sisters, Margaret Richter and her husband, Ludwig of Fedor and Edna Richter of Fedor; two great granddogs, Bailey & Taylor as well as numerous other family members and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Schneider, 83 of Giddings and formerly of Fedor, were held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fedor with Rev. Leif Hasskarl officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. Visitation was held on Saturday from 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. and Sunday from 9:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
Serving as pallbearers were Larry Dube, Kenneth Patschke, Ervin Schroeder, Kevin Striegler, Henry Urban and Glenn Wachsmann.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church Building Fund, the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery Fund or the Matthijetz Children School Tuition Assistance Fund.
