Jana [Terrell] Humphrey
Jana was born to James Douglas Terrell and Wanda Delphine [Porter] Terrell on February 10, 1966 in Monticello, Utah. She was the youngest of three children.
In 1968, she and her family moved to Denver City, Texas, the hometown of her mother and father. In 1971 the family moved a short distance to Seminole, Texas where Jana attended school and graduated from Seminole High School in 1984.
Jana attended Tarleton State University in Stephenville, Texas where she was the school mascot during her freshman year. She moved to Lubbock, Texas and earned her Cosmetology degree from Jesse Lee’s Hair Design Academy. Some time thereafter, she moved to the New Braunfels area and studied at Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas.
Jana married John Scott Humphrey on February 20, 1993. The couple joined St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels, where Jana was baptized and confirmed on April 28, 1996. Their son, Trevor Scott Humphrey was baptized on that same day, with his mother. The Reverend Charles DeHaven presided.
Jana became an accomplished hair style artist, having practiced for more than 20 years as a stylist and an educator for Paul Mitchell. She enhanced her knowledge of the hair industry by traveling to Europe for some of her continuing education.
Jana is survived by her children, Trevor Scott Humphrey and Megan Elizabeth Humphrey, both of New Braunfels, Texas; her former husband and the father of her children, John Scott Humphrey of New Braunfels; brothers, James Michael Terrell and wife Donna of Vernon, Texas and Larry Dale Terrell and wife Cindy of Caldwell, Texas; aunts and uncles Arveta [Porter] and Howard Hassell of Ruidoso, New Mexico and Helen [Terrell] and Joe Morse of Humble, Texas; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and many special friends.
Jana was preceded in death by her parents and grandparents.
A Memorial Service for Jana will be held on Friday, December 3, 2010 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in New Braunfels at 2:30 p.m. The Reverend Marvin D. Koenig will preside over the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to one’s charity of choice or to St. Paul Lutheran Church in New Braunfels.
