District 12-2A Opponents

by Mike Organ

District 12-2A II gave a good representation in recent football playoffs, despite Rogers and Franklin losing in the area round. Rogers lost to New London West Rusk 57-23. Franklin lost to Corrigan-Camden 20-14.

Rogers scored 23-points against one of the top teams in Region III. Rogers also had three drives stall out inside the West Rusk 10-yard line. The West Rusk defense can be scored on but their offense is outstanding. After stopping Rogers on the one-yard line, a West Rusk runner went 93-yards on the second play. Rogers gave an outstanding effort despite losing by 24 points.

Franklin played Corrigan-Camden, a very tough game. The CC game play is somewhat like Rogers and Franklin. They like to run the football out of the I-formation. They threw only three times but the first was a 18-yard touchdown reception by the tight end. #22 Eric Durham carried the ball 22 times for 113 yards and a score. Quarterback Patrick Parker carried 12 times for 37 yards and a score.

The CC defense allowed Franklin 257 yards on 44 trips into the line. Franklin completed only one of six passes. Most of those pass attempts were late in the game to catch up and that is not Franklin’s game.
