Eagles Start State Quest Against Frankston

by Mike Organ

The Lexington Eagles start their post season quest for a state championship Friday night at the Waco ISD stadium. Gametime will be 7:30 for the contest. Lexington had a first round bye and Frankston beat New Waverly 24- 21 to get to this match up.

The Indians are led by twins like Lexington. Linebacker Jabralon Allen and quarterback Jamal Allen are 6’1”, 200 lbs. Linebacker Jabralon led the Indians in tackles last season with 113. Quarterback Jamal passed for 777 yards and ran for 550 yards last season. Jamal will also play alongside his brother at linebacker on special occasions. Running back Treston Coleman is the featured runner. The Indians have offensive and defensive lines that average over 200 lbs.

Frankston is 8-3 on the season. They have victories over White Oak (37-30), Elysian Fields (27-14), and Palestine Westwood (35-26) in non-district. In district play Arp (26-6), Joaquin (41-14), Union Grove (42-7), and Winona (36-0) were victims. Non-district losses to Alto (46-23) and Crockett (34- 12) and a district loss to West Rusk at New London 54-6 hurt their record.

The Indians have good size and excellent skill people. The game should play out with Lexington winning but not without a tough battle.

How to get to the stadium: Take US 77 north to Waco. After passing through Robinson, from the far right hand lane, take the Texas 6 exit toward Meridian. As you near Interstate 35 take the Ft. Worth-Dallas exit and stay on the access road. The first light will be New Road. Turn left on New Road; the stadium will be on your left. The trip will take approximately one hour 45 minutes and will be about 90 miles in length. Be careful to follow the speed limit signs in Lott and Robinson and as always DRIVE SAFELY.
