Lexington 7th Grade Over Rogers

Lexington 7th grade Eagle football team hit the grid iron for the last time this season against the Rogers Eagles on Thursday November 4th in Lexington. The Eagles took the opening kick off and 3 plays later Alberto Lara ran 40 yards around the left to score a touchdown. A two point conversion pass to #2 Vance Kastner was caught but he was tackled before crossing the goal. 6-0 Lexington. Rogers took the kick off and started a good drive with a run left for 11yards, a run right for 12 yards and then the first period ended.

The second period saw Rogers facing 4th and 11 yards when the quarterback threw a 30 yard pass to the right for a touchdown. The 2 point conversion failed as the running back fumbled the ball into the end zone and it was covered by Lexington. 6-6 with 4:22 left to play in the half. With the half winding down Lara again rolled to his left for a 13 yard sprint and another TD. Jay Cooper was stopped short up the middle effectively ending the half with Lexington 7th grade up 12-6.

At the start of the 3rd quarter the Eagles attempted an onside kick, but it only went 1 yard and so Rogers took over on the Lexington 35 yard line. Rogers first play from scrimmage was a fumble and it was recovered by Lexington on their 38 yard line. With the Eagles driving, quarterback Lara had to jump high to grab an errant snap, when he pulled it down he took off right and ended up in the end zone after a 55 yard jaunt. a 2 point conversion pass to #22 Cody Mitchell put the score at 20-6. Rogers took the next kick off and returned it to the 50 yard line and then followed up with a 50 yard touchdown run around the right on the very next play to make the new score 20-12 Lexington. Rogers next attempted an onside squib kick that was recovered by Lexington. Three plays later Lara went right 43 yards for another touchdown. Conversion points failed bringing the score to 26-12. On the kick off the Rogers back took the ball and reversed fields several times before being brought down at the Rogers 40 yard line. Lexington held and sent Rogers into punt formation when the punter pulled it down and passed into the right flats, but a waiting Jay Cooper defended well and the ball turned over to Lexington on downs. Rogers intern held Lexington and the 3rd ended with Lexington in punt formation.

The first play of the fourth had Lara punt a 32 yard kick. The fourth quarter was spent in a grudge match and concluded with Lexington taking the victory kneel to end the game and end the 7th grade season with a 26-12 win over Rogers.
