Sports Thoughts…….

by Mike Organ

You better get to Rogers early. This will be the biggest game in Central Texas this week. Seating could be scarce at best.

I was very wrong about the Rangers losing in the ALCS. It is nice to be wrong sometimes. After the first two disasters in San Francisco, they are looking better in Arlington. I wonder how Jerry Jones feels, since the Rangers tickets are the hot item and Cowboys tickets are giveaways?

Texas and Texas A&M may be battling for bowl eligibility on their Thanksgiving weekend game. Neither team is bowl eligible and has some tough opponents the rest of the way. Texas does have a cream puff Florida International before A&M. Although, it may not be a gimee the way the Horns have been playing.

Did Mack Brown throw his offensive and defensive coordinators under the bus last week after the loss to Iowa State? It was ‘totally unacceptable’ according to Mack, who then moved the blame to the OC, DC, and the players. Who heads up the whole shebang? President Harry Truman said, “The buck stops here” but that is not true at UT.

Lexington Exes are still doing their thing at the next level. Jimmy Terrell was in on five tackles as the McMurry Indians lost to Hardin-Simmons. Andrew Wolrdige played in the Aggies win over Texas Tech. Amanda Dowdy had 13 kills in the Lady Techsters loss to Kansas. It is the second game in a row she has had double digit kills. Michael Brown has a broken bone in his hand. It was broken against Vanderbilt and reinjured in practice. He is available but Ole Miss officials don’t want to risk further or more serious injury.

Memory Lane- It has been 32 football seasons since the Eagles first went 9-0 and were poised to enter the playoffs. The 1978 season was magical for all the Eagle fans. This season looks to be just as good if not better.
