Food Protection Management Course Offered

The Lee County office of Texas AgriLife Extension Service will offer a Food Protection Management Training on Monday and Tuesday, November 15 and 16, at the Extension office, located at 310 South Grimes in Giddings. Class will begin at 9:00 am both days.

Registration is ongoing. Deadline to register is November 5. Information is available at the Lee County Extension office or on-line at http://lee-tx.tamu.edu, click on Events. Registration is $110 and includes the course book and exam.

The training is a certified course, accepted by the Texas Department of Health.

Cooking Well with Diabetes

Nov. 17

Texas AgriLife Extension Service of Lee County is hosting Cooking Well with Diabetes class on November 17, from 11 am to 1 pm, at the Extension office, 310 South Grimes, Giddings.

This course, designed for individuals with Type II diabetes as well their family members, includes lessons, take-home recipes and dish sampling. The course will cover information related to reading food labels, prepare low fathigher fiber foods, selecting low fat and low sodium foods, reducing fat, sugar and fat in recipes, increasing fiber foods, and reducing calories in recipes.

Individuals with disabilities who plan to attend meetings and who may need auxiliary aids, services or accommodations are asked to contact the Lee County Extension office at least five days prior to the event so that appropriate arrangements can be made.
