Thorndale Tops Eagle JV 28-14

Lexington fumbled on the first play after the opening kick off. Thorndale recovered the error and quickly marched in for a score and the PAT for an 8-0 lead. The story repeated again as Lexington fumbled after running a few plays. Thorndale again recovered and moved in for a second score with 1:35 left in the first quarter.

Eriq Mitchell rushed for 42-yards behind blocks by Colt Suvison, Corey Strain, and Allen Junek. Stevie Burleson caught the PAT pass to narrow the score to 14-8. After swapping three and outs, Thorndale moved down for another score to take a 22-8 lead. The Eagle offense awakened to move the ball down the field. Mitchell completed passes to Zach Lay and Noble Little. After a Mitchell rush, Little caught a 1-yard scoring toss to make the score 14-22 at halftime. Thorndale added another score with 4:26 left in the game.

Defensively Christian Green and Cameron Janda recovered fumbles. Marcus Cassasa led the team in tackles with nine. Jacob Snyder and Mitchell had eight tackles each. Lay had five, Strain four, and Luis Perez, Green, and Jamyon Scott had three each. Others making tackles were: Burleson, Steven Rasco, Micheal Yontz, and Colt Sunvison, Noble Little, Junek, Matt Harkreader, and Kevin Pate.

Mitchell rushed for 132 yards on 15 carries and a touchdown. Burleson was 2-25 and a PAT. Mitchell threw 15 times completing nine for 90 yards and a TD to Little. Jacob Snyder caught four passes for 54 yards. Scott snagged two for 28 yards. Lay returned three kickoffs for 51 yards.
