Sports Thoughts

by Mike Organ

The Texas Longhorns came up with a rather unimpressive performance Saturday. One of the top players was quoted in the paper as saying “We were not prepared for this game”. What did he mean? Was it the coaching or the players or both? I feel like Coach Brown has lost this team. He will have to work really hard to get it back before next season unless he is a miracle worker. He has worked miracles before. All we can do is watch.

The Iowa State win was a first, but another first is Baylor leading the Big XII South division. The Bears also became bowl eligible for the first time in many moons.

The Eagles had an impressive win over a tough team Friday night. One player told me, “they are weaker as a team than we are; we can push them around.’ It happened that way in the first half, but the second half was battled evenly.

The officials did not show for the volleyball game. It is a shame the two coaches couldn’t have found some people locally to call the game.
