Giddings Bombs Smithville 67-14

Giddings literally ran past Smithville Friday night. According to published statistics the Buffs ran for 697 yards in the Giddings Homecoming game. Joseph Glenn ran for 203 yards on 11 carries and three touchdowns. Spencer Fitzhenry had 150 yards on 15 carries and three scores. Deon Hickey had 114 yards on eight carries without scoring. Workhorse Eric Rimes had ‘only’ 82 yards and a touchdown.

With the game tied at seven in the first quarter, Giddings ran off 26 more points in the first quarter to lead 33-7 at the end of the first 12 minutes. Giddings then added 14 more markers on the scoreboard before halftime. The last Buffs score of the second quarter came on a 45-yard interception return by Jacob Krchnak. The Giddings defense was holding the Smithville offense in check. The Buffs led 47-7 at halftime.

Smithville scored first in the third quarter and the Buffs added 20 more points in the second half to reach the final margin.
