Tuesday, October 12th, The 4th Annual Pink Ribbon Affair was held in Giddings at the American Legion Hall. It was a great breast cancer awareness fundraising event to benefit Lee County Area Cancer Resource Center and Combined Community Action. Over 200 people were in attendance.

The evening included the Creative Cups for the Cause art bra exhibit and the debut of the 2011 art bra calendar featuring local survivors. Donna Orsag was the M.C. for the program which in- cluded a testimonial by breast cancer survivor, Kathy Gordon, cheers by the “Cureleaders”, and music by Christy Claxton. The candlelight breast cancer remembrance ceremony was a time to honor survivors and remember those who have lost the fight to cancer. Another one of the highlights of the evening was a song by a group of breast cancer survivors and a poignant, yet humorous, presentation by the “Bra-ffalo Village People” which was a group of ten men showing support for family and friends. The winner of the quilt created and donated by Tanya Rhodes and the Quilting Sisters was Nancy Organ.

With the help of many volunteers and the support of the business sponsors and those who donated items for the live and silent auction, The 4th Annual Pink Ribbon Affair was a huge success. The evening was both sentimental and fun as those in attendance celebrated the joy of survivorship with others.
