Lee County Angels Remain Undefeated
The U12 Girls Lee County Angels hosted the Lonestars 99G Silver North A team from Austin. Both teams are playing out of the Central Austin Youth Soccer Association or CAYSA league. The game was held at Simmang Park on Sunday October 10th.
The Angels took the opening kick off and started down the field. The game was very physical with several penalties being called on both sides for pushing. In the 20th minute of the contest with the Angels down in front of Lonestar’s goal, Natasha Thiele made a pass through the defenders that went into the far right corner of the goal for the first score of the game.
The Angels held the lead for only a few minutes when in the 26th minute of the game, a Lonestar forward broke free and had a one on one advantage and made a high right shot into the net just out of the reach of Angel goalie Heather Gallier. The score went into half time 1-1.
The second half was a complete defensive struggle until the 51st minute of the match, when Janay Wilson crossed the ball in front of the Lonestar goal to a waiting Courtney Strain who added the second goal of the day for Lee County.
With 9 minutes left in the match, the Angels went defensive and stacked the players sending the ball deep down the field when they could. The Lee County Angels walked away with a 2-1 win and preserved their undefeated record.
Heather Gallier played tough in the goalie position twice facing penalty kicks. Delanie Hirsch, Shylar Mayfield, Mallory Basquez and Hannah Kipp all had good games in defense, while Megan Rangel, Jasmine Garcia, Vivian Ratcliff and Jasmine Luna played solid in the middle.
The Lee County Angels are coached by Martin and Michael Rangel.
