Eagles Return to Action
The Lexington Eagles return to action Friday as they entertain the Franklin Lions. The Lions come to town with a 6-1 record for the season and 2-1 for District 12-AA action. Franklin defeated Hearne 20-15, Lutheran South 61-0, Whitney 50-28, and New Waverly 49-6 in non-district action. The Lions lost to Rogers 41-14 in the opening game of distict action. They have rebounded to tromp Jarrell 41-7 and Rosebud-Lott 62- 28 since their lone defeat.
Coach Mike Hedrick, son of the legendary Joe Hedrick, returns six offensive and eight defensive starters from a district champion from a year ago. The Lions operate from the ultra conservative wing- T offense. Quarterback Casey Cooke returns after orchestrating the offense last season. The Lion offensive line is anchored by Wes Tindle at 5’11” 255 lbs. Darius Floyd returns as the leading rusher after seeing a lot of playing time last season as a sophomore.
Expect a close-to-the-vest offense with a disciplined defense from the Lions. They lack a little speed but make up for it with execution of the offense and playing within themselves on defense.
