Sheriff’s Report

September 27, 2010

A motorist reported that someone had dumped a small dog at the roadside park on Hwy 77 North. The dogs back legs were broken. Deputy York transported the dog to the animal shelter.

Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched to a residence on CR 138 regarding a suspicious vehicle that was on private property. The complainant called back and advised to disregard because the vehicle belonged to the neighbor.

September 28, 2010

A caller reported two white cows out on FM 696 just west of the Jackson Store. Deputy Durrenberger ran the cows into a pasture.

Several motorists reported that an 18-wheeler was stopped in the outside east bound lane of traffic on Hwy 290 West near Hills. Deputy Durrenberger checked and reported that the truck was disabled and help was already on the way. The driver had cones and reflectors out.

The Sheriff’s Office received an alarm call at a local business. Deputy Durrenberger was dispatched and advised upon arrival that he had located a window broken out. The owner was advised and on sight. Investigation continues on this case.

Chief Deputy Kothmann and Deputy Easley were dispatched to CR 415 after receiving complaints regarding trucks spilling gravel on the roadway and driving recklessly.

Deputy Easley received a call from the Travis County regarding a deceased person. He was able to contact next of kin.

A motorist reported a large tire cap in the southbound lane of traffic on Hwy 77 approx one mile north of the Fayette County line. Deputy Durrenberger checked the roadway but did not locate the cap.

Deputy Lapham spoke to a complainant regarding her daughter’s boyfriend. He had her cell phone and was refusing to return it.

September 29, 2010

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a subject on CR E advising that they went to check on their elderly neighbor and found her deceased. Deputy York was dispatched to the scene and made a report.

A resident on CR 133 reported a male subject with a dog and wearing a backpack was sitting near the entrance to her residence. Deputy Easley responded and advised dispatch the subject was gone upon his arrival. The area was searched but no one was seen walking down the roadway.

Captain Gonzales and Deputy Easley spoke to a complainant regarding phone harassment. A report was made and Deputy Easley will attempt to make contact with the other party involved.

Deputy Liles checked on a red GMC SUV that was parked by the museum in Dime Box. The vehicle was broken down and in the process of being repaired.

A caller reported that there were 2 garbage trucks full of trash driving on his private road on Hwy 290 East. Deputy Lapham and Deputy Allen located the trucks just inside the Fayette County line. The driver advised that they were having vehicle problems and had made a wrong turn.

The Sheriff’s Office received a call from a female reporting that her parents called her and told her that her juvenile daughter was out of control and was assaulting them. The child lives with the grandparents on CR 306. Deputy Allen and Deputy Lapham responded and spoke to the grandparents. The juvenile was calm and asleep upon their arrival.

September 30, 2010

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to FM 2440 approx 4 ½ miles out in regards to a broken down vehicle. The vehicle was in a bad spot due to being near a hill, making it difficult for motorists to see around. The truck was moved to a safer location.

A caller requested a civil standby at a residence on CR 127. Deputy Easley assisted and stood by while she loaded up her horse.

A complainant reported that approx 6 teenagers were riding 4- wheelers on CR 213. Deputy Allen checked the area but advised the roadway was clear. He will be checking the area several times on the weekends.

Deputy Lapham was dispatched to CR 316 approx 3 miles from FM 112 in regards to a black calf out. The calf was located and put back into a pasture.

October 1, 2010

A motorist called in and reported that they had a flat tire and did not know how to change it. They were parked on the side of the road on Hwy 290 East near FM 180. Deputy Liles and Deputy Allen assisted.

Washington County called and reported a dark green Honda swerving all over the roadway. The driver nearly rear ended an 18- wheeler. The vehicle also left the roadway and nearly struck a guard rail. The vehicle was last seen in Carmine heading westbound on Hwy 290. Deputy Carvin and Deputy Crockett searched for the vehicle. Deputy Crockett located it and requested EMS check out the driver because she appeared to having either medical or mental issues. The driver was transported to the Sheriff’s Office until family members could pick her up.

A resident on FM 180 called and advised that someone entered her property and stole an old car. Deputy Easley responded and advised that the vehicle did not belong to the complainant. The owner had someone pick up the vehicle and haul it off.

Deputy Lapham and Deputy Allen assisted with a civil standby on CR 219. The complainant advised that the father of her children picked them up for his visitation and one of the kids is ill and she wanted to make sure he got the medication he needed.

A caller reported that a group of approx 8 people were screaming at each other on FM 141 in Dime Box across from the school. Deputy Ray and Deputy Lapham responded and separated all parties involved.

Deputy Lapham and Deputy Ray stopped a vehicle on Hwy 21 that was reported to be driving recklessly. The driver advised that he would pay better attention to his driving.

Complainants reported that someone is knocking on doors and windows and running off on CR 401. They could also hear gun shots coming from the property behind their house. Deputy Ray, Deputy Lapham and Deputy Liles located some subjects who had permission to be on the property. They were shooting at a tank and did not know anything about anyone knocking on doors and windows.

October 2, 2010

Deputy Liles put up a black cow that was out on CR 204 approx ½ mile off CR 203.

A caller reported that her shed had been broken into and items were missing. Deputy Carvin was dispatched and a burglary report was made. Investigation continues on this case.

Deputy Crockett was dispatched to a disturbance call on CR 226 where a father and son were arguing. Both parties were separated. It was a verbal confrontation only. Everything is okay.

A caller reported that a female drove up to the Westwood Villa apartments and assaulted another female. She then left and came back and assaulted her again. Deputy Carvin and Deputy Durrenberger responded. Both parties will fill out statements.

A motorist reported that a blue Chevrolet was driving recklessly on Hwy 290 East headed west. Deputy Carvin located the vehicle near Auto Zone. The driver was checked out and released.

The Sheriff’s Office received a silent 9-1-1 call. When dispatch attempted to call back there was no answer. Deputy Ray and Deputy Allen checked the residence and advised they were having phone trouble. Everything was okay.

A caller reported that a vehicle struck a pedestrian on FM 141 in Dime Box. Deputy Ray, Deputy Liles and Deputy Allen were dispatched and secured the scene until a Trooper from Fayette County arrived on scene.

October 3, 2010

A complainant reported that someone was spotlighting on CR 315 & 316 at the Alcoa property. Deputy Liles checked the area but was unable to locate anyone.

An anonymous caller reported that there was a fight at Doozie’s and someone had been stabbed. Deputy Ray and Deputy Liles responded and advised the subjects involved in the fight had left prior to their arrival.

Deputy Crockett took a report regarding mailbox damage on CR 208. Evidence was left at the scene. Investigation continues on the case.

Deputy Durrenberger assisted with a civil stand by at a residence at Shady Oaks. Upon his arrival subjects were fighting on the front porch. The parties were separated. The fight was concerning child custody.
