The Lexington JV Eagles traveled to Jarrell on Thursday September 23 to start district play. With steady improvement over the last couple of games and the start of district play, the young Eagles had high hopes. Lexington recieved the opening kick off and the first play from scrimmage had Eriq Mitchell streaking down the left side 70 yards for an apparent touchdown. The play was called back for holding against Lexington. The JV went on to score two touchdowns in the first half with two extra point conversions and then two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter with one two point conversion. Jarrell was allowed one touchdown in the fourth quarter on a busted play where their quarterback was able to scramble for 35 yards to score and then they tacked on two extra points. By quarter, Lexington lead from start to finish with scores of 8- 0, 16-0, 16-0 and 30-8 to secure their first victory of the year. The JV Eagles recorded their first win of the season with a 30-8 win over Jarrell. Eriq Mitchell scored two touchdowns and ran over three PAT’s in the Eagle win. Mitchell also completed 13 of 21 passes for 161 yards.
Zach Lay caught four of the passes for 79-yards and a score. Luis Perez caught three passes for 72 yards and a score. Chris Johnson caught two passes, Kevin Letbetter two receptions, and Noble Little had one catch. The offensive line of Christian Green, Allen Junek, Colt Sunvison, Kevin Page, and Nate Holcomb were credited with good blocking for the night.
Defensively Colt Sunvison had six tackles and Steve Rasco had six stops also. Mitchell was credited with five tackles, and Stevie Burleson, Little, and Green were in on four tackles. Lay and Letbetter had three take downs. Kevin Janda, Johnson, Kevin Page, and Hunter Wilson had tackles also. Green recovered a Jarrell fumble in the game. Corey Strain intercepted a pass and returned it 23-yards.
