Feral Hog Abatement

On September 27 the Lee County Commissioners’ Court will act on signing a Notice of Intent (“NOI”) to seek grant funding for the implementation of feral hog abatement. If the Commissioners’ Court elects to sign this NOI the County will need your participation October 1 through October 31, 2010 to gather data.

The following information will need to be reported to Greg Pleasant, Wildlife Biologist or to the County Judge’s Office:

*Number of feral hogs “taken” in the county

*Number of acres in the county that landowners will commit, in writing, to allow access by county trappers or Wildlife Services (WS) Specialists for the purpose of removing feral hogs (subject to WS availability) Please check the County’s website (www.co.lee.tx.us ) for further details after September 27, 2010.

There is a form on the Lee County Wildlife Association website leecountywildlife.org that you can use to document the pigs removed during the month of October and send to Greg Pleasant, Texas Parks & Wildlife Department Wildlife Biologist, tpwbiologist@bluebon.net
