Lady Eagles Fall to Yoe
Playing alternately brilliant and uncertain volleyball, the Lady Eagles lost to the Cameron Yoe in three games Tuesday night, September 14. For a period of time Lexington would play as good as any team in the state. They dug the ball, set, and killed against a state top-10 team.
The Lady Eagles would draw close to the Yoe and then the inability to play would rear its ugly head. There were points that would last a minute or longer. Sometimes, five or six in a row as the teams battled evenly, then Lexington would give up five points in a row before returning to play great for the next five points.
Johna Alford and Karley Wren led the Lexington team in kills with five each. Aleece Moerbe had four kills. Megan Scantlin and Haley Jatzlau had 13 and 12 digs respectively to set up the offense. Marley Ross had nine assists and Haley Jatzlau had eight to put the ball in proper place for the ‘killers’. Brittany Nichol had five aces to lead the Lady Eagles’ team.
Lexington is now 1-1 in district action.
